"To seek and serve Christ in others, loving our neighbor as ourselves."
Our Core Values
We value fellowship, acceptance, and worship enriched by our own expression of prayer, music, and praise.
We cherish children as members of God's kingdom.
We believe in sharing God's gifts.
We are a spirit filled family, embracing all seekers as Christ does.
We Believe:
Jesus is our Lord and Savior.
The Bible gives us God's direction and purpose for our lives.
The Church is to serve others like Jesus served us.
Christianity is about a relationship with God, not just a religion.
Through the Holy Spirit, God lives in us and empowers our lives.
Looking Back
A mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, Christ Church began in August of 1985 to serve the towns of Leander and Cedar Park. Eight acres of hill country land were purchased north of Lake Travis, on highway 1431. Thirty people attended the first service in the only building on the site, a house which served as the first sanctuary and church office.
Now, over twenty-five years later,
the surrounding communities are growing toward us, and the population
and traffic have skyrocketed. The original house now holds offices
and meeting rooms. A sanctuary building, seating 220 people, was
completed in 1993, and a large educational building, including
a nursery, parish hall and covered basketball court, as well as
a parking lot were added.
More Recently
In 2004 , the outdoor, CEC Stations of the Cross were added to CEC's scenic grounds. In 2006, the Children's Nursery was renovated. In 2007, the Kid's Kingdom,
a rotation modeled Sunday school program
, was created for children
between the ages of pre-K through 5th grade.
On February 16, 2008, Christ Episcopal
Church celebrated becoming a parish at the 159th Council of the
Diocese of Texas.
In 2010, CEC celebrated 25 years
of worship. New signage, a larger parking lot, and fresh paint
welcome visitors, while road improvements provide easier access
to CEC.
What remains constant at CEC are
the blessings of Christ Church, in the peaceful serenity of this
beautiful setting in the hill country.
Looking Ahead
Today Christ Episcopal Church
continues to grow and reach people in the surrounding community.
Those who visit us describe a lively, welcoming, friendly
group of people who love God and others. Sunday mornings
are busy with two worship services, children's chapel, and Sunday
school for all ages. Spiritual growth continues during the
week in men's and women's ministries, healing services, youth
activities, and small disciple groups that encourage Christian
fellowship and development.
